This beautiful embroidered scarf was created from an Indian sari. The threadwork is done in the kantha style by northern Indian women. The design is peacocks with flowers, vines, and leaves, running along one short edge. Cute little embroidered peacocks are scattered across the rest of the scarf. The fabric is a medium weight with a nice soft silky sheen and drape. The embroidery is done in cotton and silk threads. The fabric feels and smells like mercerized cotton, but I cannot be sure.
This scarf is 45 inches by 30 inches. I can not see any flaws in the fabric.
This scarf can be hand washed in cold water or machine washed in cold water on a delicate setting. Hang to dry. White embroidered peacock scarf.
I purchase my saris from a woman in Delhi. She sells only vintage and antique saris that she acquires during trips to small villages across India. She provides the women of those villages with income, and supports herself and her son at the same time. Now I'm supporting myself and my son! Threads around the world! It's awesome.
This is an antique sari and may have signs of wear such as small, light stains or tiny holes. I do my very best to insure that each piece is as close to perfect as possible, but please remember that they came from saris that have been worn and loved by one or more women. If there is something that is unacceptable to you, that I missed, I will gladly take the piece back.
